Fermo: Dai Torchi Dell’ Autore Per Domenico Angelini Bolis, 1787.
8vo, 18cm, 123,[3]p., title within horizontal decorative brackets. Contemporary decorative vellum, decorative spine with gilt straight and fluted rule compartments with central gilt flower, boards alike with intertwined foliage roll outer border and corner ornaments of flowers, stars & foliage, green silk marker, edges stained red, authors presentation inscription in Italian, ex-libris bookplate of St. Mary’s College, Oscott.

From the library of Italian Renaissance historian, Cecil H. Clough, this presentation copy of Italian antiquary and author’s privately printed work collects a series of letters discussing objections raised to his work on Roman history in relation to the 3rd century BC settlement of Camerinum, in the modern day area of Macerata in Italy. The inhabitants, Camertes Umbri, confederated with the Romans in 310 BC. A very good copy (light spotting throughout; light upper marginal moisture mark to last two sigs). Worldcat locates a sole copy at SBB-PK; ICCU 4 copies.
