Susan Hicks Beach (1866-58), author of A Cotswold Family (1909) and other works, to the antiquary, C.Roy Hudleston, discussing a MS she had submitted to him and that she thinks the narrative confused “But the story came to me that way”. Hicks Beach notes a lecture that Mr Hudleston will be giving and ends with comments about the pace of change “These are depressing times for those who have lived too long”.
